  • Fixed VirtualBox OVA images and corrected $PATH handling in the core packages.
  • Library upgrades across the system and better Raspberry Pi performance.

Security tools

  • Metasploit 6.4.43, Maltego 4.8.1, Wireshark 4.0.17.
  • New: Caido 0.44.1 (web security proxy) and seclists-lite 2024.4 (a trimmed wordlist collection).

Desktop applications

Firefox 128.6 ESR, Tor Browser 14.0.4, qBittorrent 4.5, GIMP 2.10, VLC 3.0.21, VS Code 1.96.4 and LibreOffice 24.8.

How to upgrade to Parrot Linux 6.3

sudo parrot-upgrade

New installs: download the Security or Home ISO and follow the installation guide.

Upgrade checklist

  1. Back up /home and any tool configs you customised (Burp projects, Metasploit database, wordlists).
  2. Make sure you have at least 5 GB free on /; kernel and tool updates are large.
  3. Run the upgrade on a wired connection or stable Wi-Fi; if it is interrupted, re-run sudo apt --fix-broken install then sudo parrot-upgrade again.
  4. Reboot. Confirm the kernel with uname -r and the release with cat /etc/os-release.
  5. If a tool misbehaves after the upgrade, check troubleshooting or run it through Rocket in a container.

Fresh install instead?

Download the current ISO from the download page, verify the hash (guide), write it to USB (guide) and follow the installation guide. Minimums are in system requirements.
