Start here for Parrot Linux troubleshooting, when something does not work as expected. The pages below cover the problems that come up most often; the checklist helps with everything else.
A short troubleshooting checklist
- Update first. Many problems are already fixed in the repositories. Run
sudo parrot-upgradeand reboot. - Reproduce it. Note exactly what you did, what you expected and what happened instead.
- Read the logs.
journalctl -b -p errlists the errors since the last boot, andsudo dmesgshows kernel and driver messages. - Change one thing at a time, and undo it if it does not help.
- Search before you ask. If you still need help, the community page lists where to ask and what to include in a report.
Boot and installation
- Troubleshooting GRUB: Repair the boot loader after a Windows update or a failed installation.
- Build a Custom Kernel: Build a custom kernel when stock drivers or options are not enough.
Network and anonymity
- Troubleshooting Tor: Common Tor Browser and Tor connection problems and their fixes.
- Supported Chipsets: USB Wi-Fi adapters reported to work for monitor mode and injection.
Hardware
