parrotlinux.org does not run a forum or chat of its own. The Parrot Linux community is hosted by the Parrot project on its official channels. This page explains where to look for help and how to ask so that you get a useful answer quickly.
Start with the documentation
Most common problems are already covered in the guides on this site:
- Installing Parrot and creating a bootable USB drive
- Troubleshooting: GRUB, Tor, Wi-Fi chipsets and supported hardware
- Updating the system and managing software
- AnonSurf, Firejail: Sandbox Applications and AppArmor
Official Parrot Linux community channels
The Parrot project maintains a community forum, chat groups and a public issue tracker. Links to all of them are published on the official Parrot website. They are run by the project team and volunteers, not by this site, so questions asked there reach the people who build the distribution.
How to ask a good question
- Update first with
sudo parrot-upgrade; many reports are fixed by a pending update. - Say which edition and version you run. Paste the output of
cat /etc/os-releaseanduname -r. - Say whether it is bare metal, a virtual machine, a container or a Raspberry Pi, and name the hardware that is involved (Wi-Fi chipset, GPU).
- Paste the exact command and the complete error message as text, not as a screenshot.
- List what you already tried.
- Remove passwords, API keys and client data before posting logs.
Reporting a bug
If you can reproduce a problem on a fully updated system, report it on the project issue tracker with the same details as above. Security vulnerabilities in the distribution should be reported privately to the project rather than posted in public.
