Architect Edition is the Parrot Linux minimal install. It was introduced with Parrot 5.0 as a minimal installer: the base system with nothing preinstalled, so you choose the desktop and tools yourself. Recent 7.x release announcements list a minimal Core edition alongside Home and Security, so check the official download page for what the current release offers under this name.
Who a minimal install suits
- Users with older or low-memory hardware who want a lean system. The 7.0 release notes say a Raspberry Pi 3B needs the Core edition, while the other editions need at least 2 GB of RAM.
- Admins building servers, scanning nodes or lab templates.
- People who want a desktop that is not shipped as a ready-made image.
How to build up from a Parrot Linux minimal install
- Install the minimal image and update it with
sudo parrot-upgrade. - Add a desktop environment if you want one; see desktop environments.
- Install tools individually with
apt install, as described in software management.
